Nulogic Training are excited to introduce our new primary alternative provision programme for years 5 and 6 learners from schools in Coventry and Warwickshire starting from September 2020. Following our impact in secondary alternative provision, we have been working closely with our partners to develop a primary programme that provides primary learners who have been permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion a respite; a revitalising, educational intervention to assist the learner’s reintegration back to school.

  • English
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Physical activity

Core Subject Overview

English

The English elements of the programme wants children to develop a love and greater understanding of reading, writing and grammar. The course initially has a solid focus on grammar as this underpins much of the writing requirements in order to reach the expected standard in Year 6 but also, so their writing makes sense. Finally, the primary focus for reading in this course is to develop children’s love for it which is why it is used as a stimulus at the beginning of every section of the course.

The Mathematical elements of the programme is based around children making accelerated progress in Arithmetic. Children will be taught the fundamental methods of arithmetic and additional mathematic vocabulary, so they have a solid foundation of Mathematical knowledge required to access the Upper KS2 curriculum. We know that children need to be confident in these basic skills in order to succeed in year 6 and beyond therefore this course will ensure those needs are met.
