At Nulogic Training, we recognise that mainstream education isn’t suited for everybody. Our alternative provision centres provide the opportunity for learners to progress their academic and social skills in an environment that is better suited to optimise their potential.

We pride ourselves on offering programmes that meet mainstream expectations; programmes that allow learners the opportunity to achieve a GCSE equivalent and achieve an accredited Attainment 8 subject. All our programmes are thoroughly monitored whereby learner progression reports are sent to schools weekly detailing key information regarding the learner’s development and performance with us. We understand the importance of all parties working in collaboration to achieve the best outcomes for the learners so our transparent reporting and continuous communication makes this possible.

The aim of this programme is to provide learners with the opportunity to achieve an accredited bucket 3 qualification towards learner’s Attainment 8 score. The qualification develops transferrable skills which can be taken into further education or the workplace. When designing this programme, we understood the difficulty of being in front of a screen all day; to combat this, we include sports sessions to encourage a healthy lifestyle and maintain programme engagement.

Our trainers ensure the programme is filled with positivity, optimism and fun. Learners on a placement with us will have the opportunity to take part in exciting activities, sports sessions, engage with motivational guest speakers and to participate in a celebration of their achievements at the end of the programme.

We understand that some learners face difficult and challenging times in their lives that can affect their concentration, engagement and behaviour during lessons. Removing disengaged or disruptive learners from lessons can negatively impact their learning and further discourage them from re-engaging and trying their best.

Having recognised this, we have devised a programme offering a 1-to-1 mentoring service for the 2018/19 academic year. With personal development plans in place, our specialised trainers will shadow the selected learners throughout their normal school timetable where close attention can be paid to chosen areas of desired development. Our dedicated trainers will ensure a detailed follow-up report will be sent after each session in order to monitor learner progression. The role of the Nulogic mentoring trainer is to re-engage, motivate and inspire hard to reach learners.

Our Functional Skills programme is constantly adapting and evolving. Our Tutor takes time to learn and understand our learner’s interests, using these areas to create engaging math and English sessions from Entry 1 to level 2.

Following the initial assessment, learners will work towards achieving the qualification sitting assessments at the end of each term. We recognise many young people are reluctant to engage in math and English, we are committed to re-establishing the importance and relevance of math and English with young people. We invite guest speakers from all walks of life to inform young people of the math and English situations they face on a day to day basis.

One thing we actively promote and continue to practice is the skill of listening. Following our first year of delivering alternative provision, we were constantly caught in conversations regarding boxing and the interest and passion associated with it. We saw this an opportunity to offer a programme that not only ignites excitement with young people, but provides them with an outlet that addresses self-discipline, anger management and stress relief.

Our professional boxing coach will deliver technical boxing drills where learners will be taught the not only the skill of how to box, but the self-discipline and motivation it requires to improve. Additionally, learners will be expected to coach and deliver their own boxing sessions to achieve  the Sports Leaders Award.
